For this Texas farm girl and my Nebraska farm boy, it was a no-brainer to take our engagement photos in the wide open spaces. We picked the orange groves on one of the pretty spring days of the year in late March, with the smell of orange blossoms all around, and had so much fun with our incredibly talented (and patient!) photographer Kristen Swanson.
Can you believe I get to marry this handsome guy?! Lucky girl.
A beautiful trip to Brett’s family’s farm in Nebraska just became even more special… we’re engaged!
The setting, the deep fall colors of the soybean and corn fields, (and the ring of course!) completely took my breath away. I’m feeling so happy, excited and incredibly blessed.
It’s safe to assume this post will be the first of a flood of wedding finds and ideas… let the planning begin!

There’s always something so special about being home on the farm and just breathing in the calm. Living in the city, I forget what the “calm” sounds like sometimes.
Thanksgiving break was just what I needed to reset. And when there wasn’t a dog snoring in my lap or licking my ear, I was fat and happy, surrounded by family and stuffed with a belly full of Thanksgiving goodness.
The leaves have changed colors now, and it’s my favorite time of year on the farm. I can’t wait to be back home with the pups!

It’s Dad’s birthday today, so I had to share this pic of him that my grandma emailed the other day. Working hard on the farm even back then! XO
Dad’s birthday is coming up, so I’ve been going through photos for ideas of what to get him. I keep coming back to these, just a few of my favorites. These photos are so special to our family, but they’re too good not to share.

As the leaves start to fall and the temperatures begin to drop, I wanted to share a few of my fave pics of the West Texas farm during summertime.
We lost this sweet boy this week. He was a little over two years old and developed bone cancer that spread way too quickly. He was head of squirrel patrol, master of shoe theft, a hard working farm boy, and most of all, a big loveable teddy bear. We will miss Teddy dearly. XO
Just think of this as Cute Critters Sunday (but on a Monday).
We visited Marley Farms in Gilbert, Arizona over the weekend… pretty much one of the most fun things I’ve gotten to do in a long time. It’s true, you can take the girl out of the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the girl!
The farm was founded in 2007 by Shea Hillenbrand, a former Arizona Diamondbacks player and his wife Jessica. They’ve built the coolest facilities for their animals and have created the Against All Odds animal rescue foundation. Such a cool place!
These little baby turtles hatches this weekend, so we got to hold them while volunteers looked for more. I’m shocked we didn’t walk away with at least one in our pocket – they were just too cute!
