I wanted to make something extra special to be for the mommy-to-be at this weekend’s baby shower, since there are few things that light up her eyes more than a yummy dessert… a girl after my own heart who loves to end each meal on a sweet note!
Here’s what I came up with, but not without the help of my friend Betsy, who I like to refer to as my personal Pillsbury Help Center. With her natural knack for confection perfection, not to mention her incredible job within the Pillsbury baking division at General Mills, she prevents my baking disasters with her great tips, without batting an eyelash. (I’ve been begging her for years to start a baking blog… fingers crossed!)
Fudgey Frosted Brownies with Sprinkles
I started with this delish fudge brownie recipe from Butter Me Up, Brooklyn, which is extra dense and perfect for frosting and dipping. Instead of baking in the brownie pan, however, I used mini muffin pans and reduced the bake time to 15 minutes, checking frequently to make sure they weren’t getting too crisp.
Here’s the fun part:
- Use white chocolate Candy Melts (Wilton brand, available at Michael’s), and follow package directions to melt down in a shallow bowl. In a separate shallow bowl, fill with sprinkles. Continue reading
When it’s already 100 degrees out first thing when you get up in the morning, it’s hard not to obsess over ways to cool off! I’ve been dreaming about an ice cream social lately – gathering good friends for a good ol’ fashioned ice cream party. And recently I convinced my HOA to have an ice cream social for our next community gathering (which in return, I get to plan… Yay!)
Here are a few of the creative and refreshing recipes I’ve come across for inspiration when we get around to planning this summer soiree!
I love these vintage-inspired custom ice cream party invitations by SuitePaper.

We traveled to Nebraska recently to celebrate the marriage of our dear friends, and enjoyed the ultimate barn wedding in one of the prettiest settings I could imagine. With antiques from the bride’s grandmother’s basement combined with the rustic treasures already adorning this charming old barn, this beautiful bride’s vision came together as a memorable, romantic evening. As you can see from the pic above with the dark clouds rolling in, this couple got the extra luck of rain on their wedding day, and our warmest wishes are with them as they start their new life together!
In place of rice or birdseed, guests tossed a mixture of dried rose petals and lavendar as the bride and groom left the ceremony.
The bride thought of everything, including a vintage chandelier that hung overhead as the two exchanged their vows.
Each day I am thankful for the nights that turned into mornings, friends that turned into family, and the dreams that turned into reality, and that could not have been more true on this special day.
They say every brunette is incomplete without a blonde best friend. Well I’m lucky enough to have two! Together, they hosted a gorgeous bridal shower for me, themed around the Boho Farm + Home, a stunning and meticulously decorated urban farm in Scottsdale, where it was held.
We sipped champagne, dined on an incredible quiche made with fresh eggs from the farm, a refreshing fennel citrus salad, and peach cobbler that melted in our mouths… the perfect day in a perfect setting, surrounded by my dearest girlfriends.
Pink peonies and teal accents on the most charming farm table you’ve ever seen!
And thanks to Twice Loved Vintage and The Pretty Paperie, the decor was extra special and personalized!
